DAVID OTERO Born and raised in the Albuquerque North Valley, my love for photography started in high school where I had some success. I focused on other activities after that but in the past several years I have had the pleasure of revitalizing that love and developing it into a true passion.
New Mexico is a wonderful place to live and has such unique and abundant photographic opportunities. You never know when you'll find the perfect photo opportunity so my camera almost never leaves my side. I’ll shoot landscapes one day, a kid’s football game the next, and maybe my friends having a drink or cigar that evening. Lately I've been challenging myself with portraits. My philosophy about taking pictures is that inspiration should come from the subject of the picture--the moment, the event, the person. Photography should be spontaneous and the moment captured to share a story I try not to influence my viewers or alter their personal interpretation of any image. I do this by keeping the title simple, and avoiding poetic or spiritual labels. I want others to do that for the photograph. I love hearing what others name my pictures.
My goal is for the photography to never be about me. But I wouldn't be honest if I said I didn't wish for one of my photos to become famous one day! I love discussing photography and would be happy to have anyone contact me at
