My work is based on an internal mirror, reflecting how I feel both within and about the world around me. Much of the philosophy of the abstract expressionists of the ‘50’s has influenced my perceptions and beliefs about painting. I look at art as a process of self-discovery and salvation. My work is often in series, following a concept to find as many variations as possible within it, insisting on invention and discovery. The power of color to create spatial elements as well as evoke an emotional reaction is an ever-present part of my work. It is never a question as to what the work is “about”; it is always a presence of the hand and mind, soul and color, the nature of the world.
