ANGELA KENNER
I am a young independent artist originating from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, working with mediums from acrylic paint to photography. My main focus in many of the main projects entails a mixed media presentation, experimenting with portraiture and the human body. My goals are to truly capture an audience in the wake of emotion, and to draw an individual in to see the honesty of movement and individualism.
I’ve worked on several community based projects including volunteer work as an art teacher for foster children in the city of Pittsburgh, art therapy for children suffering through illness, and an art show funded for the homeless. I’ve also participated in several community based art shows with in the city, and worked for a year as an intern to the head of the art department for Carlow University.
I am looking to further broaden and build my skill set by travel and experience through the various cultures around the world. I believe in a connection with community and society, and my future focus will be on the portrayal of my experiences in these communities. How I view this world, and how it varies from my past experiences. I’d like to explore these details through a visionary journal, and illustrate the individuals I meet with along the way. I will continue with utilizing a range of mediums of which inspire the project, and emphasize the premise. I love incorporating found objects such as magazine clippings, photographs, and structural pieces. I would like to incorporate a range of other mediums such as oil and acrylic paint, spray paint, stencils, charcoals, and types of markers.
I believe in the importance of reaching to the public and involving them in the art. I am passionate as a visual artist, and I believe in the goals I’ve set for myself in the future. I have a strong desire to learn, grow, and explore further through as many opportunities and experiences of which I can grasp.
