RALPH GREENE'S ARTIST PORTFOLIO "De Kooning and Park painted the human figure with vigorous brushwork and heavy impasto paint within the contradiction of controlled abandon. De Kooning returned to pure abstraction and Park, who died of cancer at age 50 in 1960, gave birth to Bay Area figure painting.
